Why are prints so important? Ways to improve your child's self esteem! - Campbell River Photographer

Children deserve to have printed images of themselves!

Do you print your favorite photos of your children? Do you remember growing up looking through albums reminiscing about the memories made in the photos? Whether it was a family vacation or a silly event captured on film, you probably enjoyed reliving those moments.

Today's children are growing up not knowing what their pasts were like as many of them exist only on a hard drive or CD somewhere, or worse, on a floppy disk!

Studies have shown that children whose portraits are displayed in prominent areas around their house have an increased self esteem.

For this reason we offer finished art products as well as digital images.  We know it can sometimes get overwhelming trying to put all of your memories into a beautiful album or simply get lost in a long list of things to do.  I know I am often guilty of this.  Especially when it comes down to finishing the baby book or scrapbooks documenting my children's lives - my oldest son has a fully completed scrapbook and baby book, the second has a half done one, and my baby has a bag with printed photos and stickers... Knowing this I can relate with new parents that even though we often have the est intentions we sometimes just don't have enough time.  We take the responsibility off your hands so that you can rest assured that your family's legacy will continue for your children to enjoy!  All of our products are archival and meant to be passed down for generations to come!

Ways to raise your child's self-esteem

Here is a short list on ways you can improve your child's self esteem.

  • Practice attachment parenting - snuggle and respond to your baby's cues
  • Improve your own self confidence - small steps can make a huge difference when you take care of yourself.  Your diet, sleep and activity all affect your own self esteem.  Exist in photos for your children.  One day they will want to look back and remember you being there with them.
  • Be a positive mirror - encourage positive behavior
  • Play together - this not only allows your child to develop new skills, but allows you the opportunity to relax!
  • Address your child by their name - our names are the most beautiful sound to us on earth, it acknowledges our identity and worth
  • Set your child up for success - offer age appropriate activities to build on.
  • Give your child responsibilities.
  • Encourage children to express their feelings.
  • Display photos of them around the house and in albums.  Focusing on things like family connection, accomplishments or individual portraits are all crucial in improving their self esteem!
